General Beatrix ~ Final Fantasy IX

I first cosplayed Beatrix in 2003 I think. I just can't seem to retire her, I love this costume so much. I've worn her so many times, and she's been through many tweakings to get her just right.
This most recent facelift was inspired by Erutan's Rose of May cover. Not only is the song incredibly well done, but Kate featured my old costume in her video collage (seen around the 4:10 mark).

So, I got to looking at your avie icon and was like, "omg, is she dressed up as Beatrix??" So I had to go look, and sure enough, you have a whole awesome folder dedicated to this one amazing costume...needless to say, I squee'd like the FF9 fangirl that I am x3

I love your attention to detail, your costumes (the Galloping Gala dresses among my favs) are just so stunning and awesome that you give me the inspiration to start drawing again ^^ Please keep up the awesome work~!

Awwwyeeeeah, epic comment! I'm really glad you found the folder, Beatrix remains my favorite costume and character! I would really like to do an awesome Beatrix, Steiner, and Garnet shoot, but the dude is absolutely impossible to find.

It truly makes me happy to hear that someone has been inspired to be creative from something I've done, so thank you so much for sharing that <3

And really? It's hard to find a Steiner? But he's just so awesome XD He's my favorite male character (aside from Vivi cause he's just soooo adorables~!) But yeah, I'd love to see a group shot of those three together

Not Queen Brahne though >.> I honestly don't think anyone on this planet would want to dress up as her XD

And yes, I love all of your cosplay designs, they're just so...I really can't find a better word than awesome lol Making outfits has always seemed like such a fun and rewarding thing to do (especially for cons :3) but sadly I barely know how to work a sewing machine...or even sew a straight line X3 I can do a mean embroidery and cross-stitch piece though

Yessss, it's SO HARD to find a Steiner. FF9 is the least popular of the series, and Steiner didn't become a really a great character until halfway through the game. Plus, he's not portrayed as a studly guy...he's a big ugly dude. That being said, you really need a BIG guy to cosplay him, and not many of those are at all interested in making his armor, which is more on the plain side. I personally loved Steiner, but I understand why he doesn't appeal to the men at large. It's a shame though.

I've seen two really excellent Brahnes. Both went balls-to-the-walls with the make up, so it looks legit. I can only find a photo for one of them, but she's amazing: [link]

And really? FF9 was the least popular?? omg I feel insulted! It was my favorite out of the entire series XD I could play that game over and over and never get tired of it -nods- I also like being a total nerd and reading all the lines aloud while giving everyone different voices...my Steiner voice is my fav XD

In terms of sales, yeah, FF9 did the worst when it was released. I thought the artwork was brilliant and the story and world were absolutely incredible, but I think the format of the game was a little too throw back during a time that video games were really stepping up their graphics. So at first glance, it wasn't received well. There was also the rift that happened between the artist and Square Enix, so bad blood from the separation might have affected how the game was promoted.

Anyway, I think it's definitely earned 2nd looks over the years, and most people I know who have played it hands-down loved it. It seems like lately it's been enjoying a 2nd wave of popularity, which is awesome.

Wow, I didn't know that...I don't feel like such a hardcore FF9 fan anymore X3 Oh well, I loved it since it first came out so I guess that's all that matters lol I'm glad more people are playing it though cause it really is an amazing game
